ADARIM 1997
Paty Rodriguez
Pronouns: She/her
This artwork was one of my first performances, and was about how homosexuality was consider a crime until 1997 in Ecuador.

This work evokes a cartographic journey from what was "Abanicos pub” to the “Casa Aparte” residence.

On June 22, 1997, about 63 people were arrested in the bar, detained on the basis of Art. 516 of the criminal code that typified homosexuality as a crime punishable by four to eight years in prison. The action aims to be an act of liberation with the intention of interconnecting the past with the present and cartographically draw a map with what happened.

Description: Performative action that pretends to be a liberation rite with intent to connect the past with the present and in a cartographic way to draw a map with the barefoot steps and untie a body.
